The time is now to advance our profession.

EMS, Emergency Medical Services. Sounds respectable; but has it been respected? Do date EMS has been a subordinate service. Never truly autonomous. I can't be assured it ever will be, but NEMSA is the vehicle that would permit that progression over the terrain of subsidiary status to influencial standing.

We may never be out from under the purview of numerous oversight agencies, but we can obtain an ability to direct our futures and protect our careers. We are, at times, victims of injustice perpetrated by persons of authority who exhibit conflicts of interest. The ability to influence our careers through a symbiotic connection through the various regulating bodies. The quid pro quo potential to impart ones will on another utilizing the various authorities which to date answer to no one.

I am not suggesting this is a fequent occurrence, but even one genuine abuse is one too many. I feel NEMSA is a Union that could intervene and bring legitimacy to the oversight process and eliminate the potential for even one abuse of power and authority. NEMSA is a big step in the right direction of our "Prfessional Pursuit".
